Birthday Ride - 2016

Birthday Ride - 2016

This is the fifth year that I have ridden my bike one mile for every year of my age.  You guessed it, I turned 72 this year.  My chosen route centered on White Rock Lake in Dallas, Texas.

Because my birthday comes during the height of the Texas wildflower season, I  am always treated with an array of beautiful flowers that add interest to my rides.

Hardly without exception, each one is a real treasure to find, even when they are considered common, which this one isn't.

Quite often it is necessary to get off the bike and almost put your nose to the ground, before you see what lies beneath.

I never cease to find the most common wild flowers to be inspiring.  Each variety as unique as can be,  yet year after year they reappear without variation, as consistent as can be.  Presenting themselves as one more witness of magnificence of  our God.

This year, rather that focus on meadows and fields filled with color and beauty, I wanted to show the individuality of each sample.

How grateful I am for a loving Father in Heaven, that appreciates and honors my individuality - defending my agency.
